You are about to board
A really long flight
So put your seat belt on
Clutch the armrest tight
The flight will take you to
A beautiful destination
It’s called Retirement
Life’s longest vacation

The end of a long and successful career,
You may release more than a tear.
So much passion and dedication,
You clearly deserve a long vacation.

Working with you was always a pleasure,
Your friendship is valued more than a treasure.
Countless memories, over time we have shared,
Every day you showed that you cared.

Just want to wish you only the best,
Lots of experiences, and plenty of rest.
This simple poem is no fancy award,
We just hope, it hit the right chord.

You’re retiring today,
And we want to wish you well.
It may seem like you still work here,
But a few signs will surely tell.
No more coffee cup rings
On sub-standard reports,
And when you’re feeling surly,
We won’t hear your spicy retorts.
Your cubicle will no longer emit
That oh-so-familiar smell,
Of stale coffee, vapor rub,
And day old Taco Bell.
And when it’s time for a meeting
A tear will surely come to each eye,
When you’re not there to plop down in a chair,
And heave a bored and world-weary sigh.
But let’s not dwell on what we’re losing,
Because you’re surely better off.
Have fun wasting time off the clock now,
And think of us fondly while you’re goofing off.

Retirement Poems for Coworker

Now is the time to do
Everything you’ve always wanted to
Now is the time to enjoy
All the things which eluded you
Now is the time to catch up
With friends and family
Now is the time to show the world
That you’re an amazing retiree
Happy retirement

A ring of the phone announced
A holiday call to say “hello”
The news from working days,
Days sometimes bringing nostalgic yearning,
That feeling of being a part of things,
A desire for the perception of good old days
Days when accomplishment was joy, and
There was news of friends gone by,
There was news of politics and meetings,
And then, then, the realization like night arc lights when
You’re gone, you’re gone, left behind, but
Today you didn’t have to drive on slick streets,
Today your frig had a grocery, and you could stay in;
Today you could write this little offering.
A better day after all.
by Sunlite Wanter

Come, my friends,
‘Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.
It may be that the gulfs will wash us down:
It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,
And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.
Tho’ much is taken, much abides; and tho’
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved the earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
— from Ulysses by Alfred Tennyson

Retirement is a time
For feeling glad to be alive,
A time when friendships blossom
And enthusiasms thrive.

A chance to do the special things
You always wished you could.
Retirement is a special time
For knowing…life is good.
Congratulations on your Retirement

Congratulations on a job well done.
You may be retiring, but you’re still number one.
Now every day, you’ll get to sleep in late.
Is that the early bird special on your plate?
This place won’t be the same without you.
Just thinking about it makes us all feel blue.
But think of the fun that’s within your sight,
you can take the misses out to party all night.
Retirement is just the next step in your life.
I sure hope you like spending time with your wife.
Maybe you can stop back in and see us some day.
“Don’t be a stranger,” we say to you, okay?

Can’t believe your old enough!
For retirement from this place.
You haven’t got enough worry lines
Mapped all over your face!

Retirement’s a time we all hope to find,
With no clock to watch except in our mind.
The daily demands of the job that you choose,
Take its toll, and you worry, afraid you will lose
The thing you worked for all of the years
To leave only heartaches misery and tears
You are most fortunate to achieve your goal
And retire with health and family still whole.
With carefree days to spend as you will
If you like you can go and just sit on a hill
To take time to look and study the ground
And enjoy the beauty that’s spread all around
A happy time of your life it should be
For there are a great many wonders to see
Free time to do the things in your dreams
To camp, hurt, or fish the crystal clear streams
To get close to nature on intimate terms
It’s a good way to live as a person soon learns
